Actor-singer Lee Seung-gi, who is undergoing basic training for military service, will be assigned to the Special Warfare Command next week, a military official said Thursday.
“Lee Seung-gi has been classified into the intelligence specialty group and will join the Special Warfare Command on March 21,” the Army official said. Lee joined the Army in early February and has been undergoing boot camp like all other recruits.
Lee’s duty with the special forces command will be in administrative affairs, and does not include special combat operations, according to the official.
“If Lee moves to the Special Warfare Command, he will be posted to the headquarters section of sub-brigades,” he said.
All able-bodied South Korean men, including Lee, are required to finish about two years of mandatory military service  Â
The 29-year-old, who debuted with the chart-topping single “Because You’re My Girl” in 2004, has also dabbled at acting, starring in hit shows like “Brilliant Legacy” and “The King 2 Hearts.” He has also been a fixture on variety shows, most notably “Two Days, One Night.” (Yonhap)
