Nexen Heroes sign pitcher Feierabend

The Nexen Heroes announced on Wednesday theyโ€™ve signed former Major League Baseball left-hander Ryan Feierabend to a one-year deal.

The Seoul-based Korea Baseball Organization club said the 29-year-old American has signed for $270,000 in annual salary, along with $30,000 in signing bonus and $80,000 in options.

Feierabend has 31 big league games under his belt. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2003 and made his major league debut with the Mโ€™s in 2006. Most recently, the left-hander pitched for the Texas Rangers this year, making six appearances spanning 7 1/3 innings.

Heโ€™s 2-11 with a 7.15 ERA in 113 1/3 big league innings. In the minors, Feierabend has been 81-73 with a 4.12 ERA in 257 appearances.

The Heroes have now filled up their foreign player quota for next season. They have already re-signed left-hander Andy Van Hekken, and acquired outfielder Brad Snyder, who was not retained by another KBO club, LG Twins, after half a season there. The Heroes earlier failed to come to terms with right-hander Henry Sosa and then promptly brought Feierabend into the fold.

The Heroes said Feierabend will join the team in mid-January when they set up offseason camp in Arizona. (Yonhap)
