Singer-Songwriter Hana Kim is set to launch a new single “Heaven Sees Me”. The track is very close to her heart because it speaks to what it is like for girls and women who are forced into human trafficking.

Based in Los Angeles, Kim has a concert coming up on Saturday, August 2, called “Saving Innocence Benefit Concert”, a charity event aimed at spreading awareness about domestic child prostitution. All proceeds will support Saving Innocence’s efforts in eradicating this widespread issue, primarily by servicing victims with medical care, safe shelter, counseling, court advocacy, mentorship, and education. Other special performers at the event include Lucy Schwartz, Hotel Cinema, Belmont Lights, and Jane Lui. At the concert, Jubilee Project will also release a trailer for “Save My Soul, which is their documentary about human sex trafficking. In addition, Kollaboration and Saving Innocence will launch their #SaveInnocence social media hashtag campaign to increase awareness of both the cause and the event.

Saving Innocence, a nonprofit organization that rescues and restores trafficked child victims (www.savinginnocence.org), is teaming up with Kollaboration for the event at the Ford Amphitheater. The gates will open at 6 pm for guests to enjoy their own picnic baskets of food and wine, and the doors will officially open at 7 pm. Tickets are available at FordTheatres.org or 323 461-3673 (for non-visual media 323 GO 1-FORD).

Human Sex Trafficking is widely known as a problem overseas; however, most Americans do not realize that it also exists in their own backyards. In fact, at least 100,000 to 300,000 youth are at risk for commercial sexual exploitation annually in the United States. Shockingly, the average age of these trafficked adolescents is 12 years old.

Yesterday marked the first World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and will continue to be held every year on July 30. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stated, “This first World Day against Trafficking in Persons is a call to action to end this crime and give hope to the victims, who often live unrecognized among us.”
