South Korea is expected to replace the country’s ambassador to China in a regular reshuffle of overseas envoys, diplomatic sources said Thursday.
Amb. Kwon Young-se is rumored to be tapped as the next unification minister or the next chief presidential security advisor when President Park Geun-hye carries out a small-scale Cabinet reshuffle, possibly next week.
Who will replace Kwon has yet to be disclosed by the government.
The former three-term lawmaker affiliated with the ruling Saenuri Party took up the position in June 2013 after failing to win a parliamentary seat in the general election.
The Cabinet shakeup is expected after the parliament votes on the nomination of former ruling party floor leader Lee Wan-koo as the new prime minister next week. (Yonhap)
