President Park Geun-hye Tuesday asked heads of local assemblies to join forces with the central government to cut red tape and combat corruption.
Park said deregulation made by the central government would come to nothing unless deregulation is followed through by the local authorities.
Park made the comment in a meeting with 17 heads of provincial assemblies and metropolitan councils at the presidential office.
Park has been pushing to lift or ease all but core regulations to help reinvigorate the country’s economy, calling unnecessary business restrictions “our archenemy” and a “cancer.” (Yonhap)
