A 30-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly strangling her toddler to death, police said.

The woman, identified only by her surname Kim, called the police a day earlier to report that her husband beat their two-year-old son to death, according to Yang Hui-seong, chief crime investigator at Gumi Police Station.

However, she later admitted she tried to kill herself and the baby “because of stress from family discord.”

She has lived separately from her husband since November, police said.
