The hallyu wave will hit Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium with the opening of โ€˜Korean Nightโ€™ on June 17. Korea’s representative rock band YB will sing the national anthem of both Korea and U.S. and hold a mini concert at 6PM, while popular K-pop girl group 2NE1‘s leader CL is expected to throw the first pitch.

The Korean Night event, hosted by the LA branch of Korea Tourism Organization, will be opened before the game of LA Dodgers vs. Texas Rangers. It is still unconfirmed that Ryu Hyun-jin, who is currently on the disabled list with a left shoulder injury, will be able to take the mound. However, fans seem to look forward to Choo Shin-sooโ€™s active play.

Aside from YBโ€™s mini concert, a Korea tourism promotional video โ€™Imagine Your Koreaโ€™, which features popular K-pop boy band Big Bang will be shown on the stadium’s electronic scoreboard with a special giveaway event with a chance to win airline tickets to Korea. At the entrance of the stadium, there will be aย Korea tourism promotional booth that will feature YB โ€˜s fan signing event and to promote the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Another meaningful event that will partake that day will be presenting an appreciation plaque to two Korean war veterans in honor of the 65th anniversary of the Korean war.ย Kim Tae-sik, LA branch manager of Korea Tourism Organization, said, โ€œThis event is organized to introduce Korea in a more friendly way to Dodgers fans, and I expect that more Americans will consider visiting Korea through this event.โ€
