Police to stay on high alert during trilateral summit

Police said Friday they will be on high alert during the upcoming summit of leaders from South Korea, Japan and China.

Police also said officers from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will not be allowed to take days off in order to maintain the available forces at 100 percent.

The move is designed to deal with any emergencies during the summit scheduled on Sunday.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye is set to host Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a gathering intended to soften strained relations and boost cooperation.

Park is also scheduled to hold separate bilateral talks with Li and Abe on Saturday and Monday, respectively. Li also plans to meet with Abe on Sunday. (Yonhap)
