South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday it has made a $500,000 donation to a U.S. non-profit organization for war veterans.
Under the plan, Samsung will supply various home appliances, from refrigerators to TVs, to the Fisher House Foundation in Washington D.C., which provides comfort homes for veterans and their families.
“We hope that Samsung’s electronics will help the veterans’ families have a warmer and happier time,” said Yoon Boo-keun, who heads the tech giant’s consumer electronics segment.
Samsung has been making various donations to the U.S. veteran community since providing $5 million in scholarships for the children of veterans in 1996.
In October, Samsung also donated $1 million to help with the upkeep of the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. The donation was delivered to the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation.
Samsung plans to continue roll out various volunteer programs in cooperation with the Fisher House Foundation throughout the United States, it added. (Yonhap)
