S. Korea checking citizens’ safety in wake of Brussels blasts

South Korea is checking the safety of its citizens in Belgium after a series of deadly explosions hit Brussels’ major transport hubs Tuesday, a government official said.

“We are contacting local authorities through our embassy in Belgium and using our emergency contact network to check whether South Koreans were hurt in the blasts,” the official told Yonhap News Agency by phone.

Earlier Tuesday, a series of blasts hit Brussels airport and a metro station in the city, killing more than 10 people and injuring dozens of others, according to news reports. (Yonhap)
