The temperature of the earth is rising at nearly twice the rate it was 50 years ago. This rapid rate and pattern of warming, scientists have concluded, cannot be explained by natural cycles alone. The only way to explain the pattern is to include the effect of greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted by humans. Our personal vehicles are a major cause of global warming. Collectively, cars and trucks account for nearly one-fifth of all US emissions, emitting around 24 pounds of carbon dioxide and other global-warming gases for every gallon of gas. About five pounds comes from the extraction, production, and delivery of the fuel, while the great bulk of heat-trapping emissions—more than 19 pounds per gallon—comes right out of a car’s tailpipe.
There are several solutions to reduce the carbon emissions from these vehicles, such as using fuel-efficient vehicles, cleaner fuels, and electric cars. However, compared to those solutions, there is a simple solution to reduce the car’s exhaust and improve gas mileage, and that is a way to connect the grounding cable. The reason for using the grounding cable is to improve the grounding condition of the battery by inducing the electric current flowing in the automobile electronic product to flow to the ground. However, if this grounding cable becomes worn out over time, contact failure occurs, the voltage of the battery supplied to each component becomes unstable, and generator operation, grounding electricity, and RPM become unstable. As a result, a lot of fuel is consumed by weak power, noise is increased, knocking phenomenon at low speed, engine shutdown phenomenon, and exhaust gas increase phenomenon occurs.
Setico, a South Korean company, has launched a product that is different from the conventional common ground cable. A tin-plated copper wire was used and the coating material was made of polysilicon to make a ground cable called the ‘Smart Cable’ that can be used normally at 150 degrees. It is easy to install by connecting the negative electrode of the battery to the engine body, connecting the engine body to the transmission, and fixing it with a cable tie. Additionally, in terms of fuel economy, improvement of fuel efficiency was confirmed 14~16.4% after 6 months from installation of this product for taxis. Improvement of fuel efficiency of 9.5% was confirmed at 2 months after installation for buses. In terms of smoke, diesel engines are said to have dropped by 88.2%.
