With our society developing quickly to keep up with new technology and other scientific revelations, people have adapted to the building pressure by disregarding their health. Due to lack of time and overall stress, they can resort to eating unhealthy foods, skipping out on their exercise regime, or ingesting harmful toxins from bad habits such as smoking cigarettes. When people start to neglect their bodies, their health and immune system pay the price and become more prone to disease and illness. One of these ailments is diabetes, which has rapidly become one of the most prevalent diseases of this current generation. Although diabetes can fortunately be treated, a lot of the technology that is currently in use can be quite inconvenient for most patients. Thankfully, a company called NDD (Nano Diagnostics & Devices) has released a product that serves to be revolutionary in medicinal technology, the SMART ALBU.
SMART ALBU is a substitute for the current sensor which requires blood to be drawn in order to check on the current state of the disease. Rather than using blood, this new sensor can detect any signs of diabetes just from the patient’s saliva. This can be very convenient for those who have an aversion to drawing blood or any type of pain in general. SMART ALBU is also known to provide very accurate results within one minute of use, and it’s portable so it can be used at home as well. Another benefit of using the SMART ALBU is that it ultimately costs less to use due to its simplicity, and there is no risk at all for infection due to its collection of saliva.
The SMART ALBU does not restrict anyone from using it. Some people have some difficulty extracting blood due to other existing diseases or conditions they have. This device enables pregnant women, AIDS patients, children, or any other patient with a blood disorder to use it as well. Overall, the product is quite compact. SMART ALBU contains three main components, the reader and two cassettes. The cassette tip is disposable for each use. Its main function is for diabetes diagnosis and short-term treatment. The SMART ALBU Station is for hospital use, and it contains a tablet PC, a reader, and a cassette tip which is also disposable. It also takes only about a minute to analyze the saliva sample and provide accurate results. The PC has the function to save patient files and any memos regarding treatment or measured data. The PC also provides feedback through voice announcement.
With technology quickly advancing to aid existing diseases and ailments, the reality of our neglect for our bodies becomes more and more apparent. Diabetes is just one of the many diseases we can develop. Rather than solely relying on technology to treat our ailments, we should make active decisions to focus on our health and preventing these issues from arising in the first place.
