Rhythmboy – the bridge between music and technology

It’s become well-received by the rest of the world that South Korea is one of the hubs for technological advances. Thanks to the multiple companies contributing to the influx of modern technology, people are able to go about their fast-paced lifestyles in comfort. However, what people don’t seem to realize is that beyond the technology, South Korea has also become known for their popular music culture. A combination of both music and technology is what has truly defined modern-day South Korea. In fact, a company called Palmsys, a creative product design company, has released a line of products that truly showcases the technical and musical elements of Korean culture.

Their main product is called Rhythmboy, an electric percussion instrument. It emits 30 unique sounds of percussion, including animal noises and tambourines. Additionally, each sound is idiosyncratic depending on whether Rhythmboy is shaken or hit with the volume also depending on the intensity of these movements. Through this electric instrument, the sounds of four music instruments can be played simultaneously. The sounds can also be selected through the buttons on the instrument, and they can be heard through the speaker cap.

Rhythmboy is not only functional, but it is also portable and convenient to use. It can be charged through the USB port placed on the side of the instrument. The volume can also be manually adjusted through the volume control buttons. To save battery, Rhythmboy also automatically turns off if it isn’t in use for two or three minutes.

Rhythmboy can be used for accompanying children’s music at school, or it can be used as a substitute for actual percussion instruments. People can also use it for karaoke accompaniment or events and concerts. It’s handy to have at any social gathering for entertainment purposes as well.

Overall, Palmsys has successfully encompassed two separate elements of Korean culture in one device. Rhythmboy is the bridge between music and technology, and it shows that South Korea is more than just its rigid, corporate lifestyle; people can still let loose and have fun with gadgets like the Rhythmboy.
