Vital signals monitored in safety helmets

Wearing safety helmets has been considered as a minimum life-protection for workers at construction sites. However, some workers may not wear them depending on the level of safety consciousness, whining that he or she will not fall on the operator at a high altitude, or that wearing a safety helmet is troublesome.

So, what would happen if your safety helmet could measure and monitor the worker’s vital signs including pulse and brain waves? It could monitor the biometric information (pulse, brain waves) and signal to the user to prevent workers from working in large drains where dangerous gases may be generated in the body, without realizing it. If the user’s health condition is detected to be dangerous in the summer heat or in the winter cold, it could also let her or him know his it and recommend to take a rest.

Also, when a worker falls from a high altitude while working alone, a smartphone is broken and the injured worker is unable to move, a biometric signal (pulse and brainwave) through the operator’s helmet and the acceleration of the fall will be sent to the construction company’s central control system to rescue the injured worker safely. As such, not only does the helmet protect the worker’s head from any falling object, but it also gives the construction company the recognition that it actually helps the worker’s life, so that they can centralize the worker’s safety and health.

Han Hyung-Seob, CEO of HHS Co., Ltd. in Korea, developed and mass-produced a biometric solution module monitored by safety helmets. Han developed this module for safety helmets after reading a report that Korea had the world’s No. 1 industrial accident death rate among OECD countries, with 102,305 people suffering from industrial accidents and 2,142 deaths as of 2018. The module is a clip-type design that makes it easy to wear any type of safety helmet and can process the biometric signals (pulse and brain waves) of workers wearing safety helmets within a minute.

Safety cannot be emphasized too much for anyone, anytime, anywhere. This is why everyone should pay attention to this company, HHS.
