South Korean sweetheart Suzy of Miss A joined the crowd to cheer on Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin of the LA Dodgers.
Ryu was tapped as the starting pitcher for a Major League Baseball game against the Cincinnati Reds at Dodger Stadium in California. The lefty managed to hold off the Reds for seven hitless innings until he allowed three hits early in the eighth.
“Ryu’s sacrifice bunt was really great and he pitched so well. Although he missed a perfect game I still think it was flawless. I had so much fun cheering for him and I loved seeing the game in person,” Suzy said through her management company, JYP Entertainment.
[UPDATE]
Suzy will throw the opening pitch at the third game of the Dodgers-Reds series on May 28 as part of Korea Night, an event organized by the Korea Tourism Organization. On the day of Korea Night, legendary former All-Star Dodger pitcher and the first Korean-born MLB player, Park Chan Ho, will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
As part of this special event, the first 50,000 fans in attendance will receive a Ryu Hyun-jin bobblehead, presented by Asiana Airlines.
At the start of the second game of the series on May 27, Jung Yong-hwa, the lead vocalist of K-pop idol group CNBLUE, will sing the South Korean national anthem and the U.S. national anthem will be performed by Korean R&B singer Ali.
