SMT Co., Ltd., a startup specializing in energy smart metering, announced on the 23rd that it has signed an MOU with the Russian National Research University MPEI (Moscow Power Engineering Institute) in Moscow, Russia, on the 11th.
SMT Co., Ltd. is currently a Pangyo start-up zone company established by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and operated by the Korea Startup Promotion Agency and the Gyeonggi Creative Economy Innovation Center. It provides products and services that predict demand through IoT/ICT-based measurement and analysis solutions for efficient energy management.
The MOU was promoted as part of the “Commercialization of Russian Innovation Technology” project organized by Gyeonggi Techno Park, and as of 2022, the Russian government announced a government resolution banning cooperation between foreigners and Russian universities.
In the future, SMT and MPEI are currently working on projects on technology transfer and additional development with three research groups to produce practical results, and will later coordinate system advancement and new technology development schedules for thermal energy efficiency management.
In addition, MPEI agreed to verify technologies and products developed in Russian local networks and test beds over the next three years, and externally agreed to cooperate in mid- to long-term joint projects with MPEI when entering Russia and Eurasia, an official said.
Lee Dong-wook, CEO of SMT Co., Ltd., said, “Based on solid basic science, we will do our best to help the development of Russian technologies with high-quality source technologies,” adding, “With MPEI and this project, we will lay the groundwork for entering Eurasia.”
