KOMACON holds an exhibition of works by 65 cartoonists from Korea and China

An exhibition titled “The 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and China: Friends, Friendship” is being held online, with 65 Korean and Chinese cartoonists participating.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the ICC Secretariat (Secretary General Shin Jong-chul), the exhibition presents various cartoon interpretations and imaginations of “friends and friendships” that span generations and new writers.

It is the second ICC online special exhibition following the ICC Online Exchange Exhibition: To Overcome Corona, which was held last year, and all works can be enjoyed online and the exhibition period is until December 31.

Marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China, the topics selected by the ICC committees of the two countries are “Friends” and “Friendship.” The theme, which was set by cartoonists from both countries looking at each other, is of special significance. Friends are sometimes distant, but they always come back to us and comfort us.

The exhibition hall consists of a total of four spaces: the main lobby, the space of friendship, the Korean Pavilion, and the Chinese Pavilion, and is carefully designed as an aesthetic space containing the will of cartoonists from both countries and the philosophy of the East. While producing space design concepts that are difficult to experience in reality by taking advantage of the characteristics of virtual space, three concept ideas, “Modern, Traditional, and Abstract,” are properly used to prevent the flow of space during virtual exhibitions.

secretary-general of the ICC, and director of the Korea Cartoon Promotion Agency, said, “While watching the exhibition, where the friendship and imagination of cartoonists from Korea and China meet, you will be comforted and feel warm.”
