[신년사] 미셸 박 스틸

I want to sincerely wish the entire Korean American community a Happy New Year.I hope that you and your families’ will have good health and prosperity in the coming year.

The New Year will mark the end of my eight years representing the taxpayers of Southern California on the Board of Equalization, and the beginning of my first term as Orange County Supervisor for the Second District, which includes the cities of Costa Mesa, Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Stanton, the unincorporated area of Rossmoor, and portions of Buena Park and Fountain Valley.

It has been a true honor to serve the more than nine million residents of the Third District for the past eight years.

During that time, I was able to find a multi-million dollar error in the BOE’s security deposit program and return hundreds of millions of dollars to taxpayers.

Just last year I worked with my colleagues to achieve my long-time goal of eliminating the automatic security deposit program all together. I successfully fought a $500 million iTax on Internet downloads, stood firmly against new taxes and illegal regulations, such as the ones placed on flavored malt beverages and certain types of wine.

And I was able to host tens of thousands of small-business owners and nonprofit leaders at tax seminars throughout the counties of Imperial, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego.

I would like to thank the entire Korean American community and the residents of the Third Equalization District for eight excellent years as Southern California’s elected taxpayer advocate. I look forward to working with the Korean American community in my new role as Orange County Supervisor.

Once again, I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year!
